Zita is the Director of Watersheds BC and Co-Director of the Indigenous Watersheds Initiative. In this role she has partnered with philanthropy since 2021 to deliver $42 million in watershed security funding across BC. Her work focuses on scaling BC’s watershed security by supporting organizations and communities with resources, knowledge, training, and networks needed to restore and secure local watersheds.
She spent 15 years working in various roles for the federal and B.C. governments. Her accomplishments while at B.C. Ministry of Environment include leading the development of Living Water Smart – BC’s Water Plan and the BC Water Sustainability Act. Both landmarks in policy and legislation that have shaped the landscape of watershed management in B.C. for the past 14 years.
