Alan Shapiro

Advisor, Working for Watersheds & Principal, Shapiro & Company

Alan Shapiro is an advisor for Working for Watersheds, a collaborative initiative of industry, government, Indigenous communities, and non-profit organizations working to protect and restore healthy watersheds across British Columbia. More broadly, Alan’s experience across multiple roles has focused on addressing complex water challenges, designing environmental sustainability strategies, and supporting the development of clean technology solutions. He is Principal at environmental consultancy Shapiro & Company, an instructor in the Sustainable Business program at BCIT, and a strategic advisor for Foresight Canada’s BC Net Zero Innovation Network. Alan serves on the board of development charity Water for People Canada and sustainability network Leading Change. He holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering from Columbia University and draws on a technical background in hydrogeology, environmental management, and behavioural insights.
