Martha Hancock is an experienced leader in corporate social responsibility, brand marketing, philanthropy and environmental sustainability. She has worked for corporate, not-for-profit and entrepreneurial organizations. She specializes in building and implementing programs that drive brand value, social and environmental impact, employee engagement and revenue generation.
Prior to joining Canadian Business for Social Responsibility (CBSR), Martha was an Executive-in-Residence with Capacity Canada, a charity focused on not-for-profit governance and innovation. She worked with Manifest Climate to support companies with their TCFD disclosures. And at WWF Canada, she led the fundraising function as SVP, Development. In her corporate career, she managed the global corporate citizenship function at Manulife Financial as AVP, Philanthropy & Sponsorship and Chief Environmental Officer. She has led the development and roll-out of global community investment and corporate social responsibility strategies and been responsible for annual sustainability reporting. At RBC, she was a senior marketing strategist for commercial banking and supported over 12 industry segments as well as multiple product categories.
Martha holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University and an undergraduate degree from the University of King’s College/Dalhousie University in Halifax. She is a recent graduate of the Modern Board certificate program in not-for-profit board governance. She has been a board member of Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter, and currently volunteers with Toronto Home Retrofits, a community-based organization helping Torontonians decarbonize their homes.
