Bindu Dhaliwal is a seasoned professional with more than 15 years of experience in sustainability and environmental, social, and governance. Currently, she is CIBC’s Senior Vice-President, ESG & Corporate Governance, responsible for its ESG strategy, disclosure, governance and engagement activities. In her role, Bindu also oversees CIBC’s Corporate Secretary function, Whistleblower Program, Complaints Handling Program and Client Complaints Appeals Office. In spring of 2023 Bindu was appointed to the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board.
Bindu is a long-standing community leader and champion for diversity, equity and inclusion. She has served on the board of several not-for-profit organizations and has acted as an advisor to academic programs on sustainability and social finance.
A lawyer by training, Bindu began her career in the litigation department of a major Canadian law firm and clerked at the Ontario Court of Appeal. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and a graduate certificate in sustainability from the University of Toronto and obtained her law degree from Queen’s University. She has also received a graduate diploma in Social Innovation from the University of Waterloo.
