Alison Schneider

Canadian Representative, Ceres Investment Network

Alison is an award-winning sustainable finance practitioner with a proven track record of success. She is the Canadian Representative for Ceres Investment Network, Senior Fellow for GRESB,  Director with Emerging Markets Investor Alliance, and Principal of Encompass ESG Corporation, a sustainability consultancy. She recently designed and taught a climate risk micro-certificate for Canada Climate Law Initiative and teaches sustainable finance at the University of Alberta.

Alison was previously Vice-President, Responsible Investment at AIMCo. She developed and led a world class RI program at AIMCo from 2011-2022. During her tenure, AIMCo was consistently recognized as a top ESG performer by leading organizations such as UNPRI, New Americas, ICGN, GRESB, and the Responsible Asset Allocator Initiative.  Alison is a co-founder of GRESB Infrastructure (2015), the world’s first infrastructure sustainability benchmarking tool, and of Climate Engagement Canada (2022). She has contributed to the development of Canada’s taxonomy and global sustainable finance frameworks.  She is an author/co-author of: The New Frontiers of Sovereign Investment (2017); ICGN’s Guidance on Diversity (2016), ICGN’s Guidance on Fiduciary Duty (2018) and more.

Alison was awarded Canada’s Clean50 award (2021, 2020) & the University of Alberta Alumni Honour Award (2022) for her contributions to the field of RI.
