Michael Zabaneh is a seasoned leader in sustainable business with over two decades of expertise in sustainability, the circular economy, and climate mitigation. As the Vice President of Sustainability at the Retail Council of Canada (RCC), he directs an acclaimed sustainability practice focusing on extended producer responsibility (EPR), plastics circularity, and climate action. Previously, he was Director of Sustainability at GFL and Director of Climate Change & Sustainability Services at Ernst & Young, where he pioneered sustainable strategies globally. His extensive experience in EPR, operational recycling, and climate mitigation allows him to influence pivotal sustainability legislation and industry standards effectively. Under his leadership, RCC has significantly advanced its sustainability objectives, engaging stakeholders across consumer goods companies, industry groups, government, and media. His advocacy has led to substantial policy changes, enhancing RCC’s leadership in sustainability.
