Kristi Peters

Food Systems Planner, Climate Adaptation, The City of Calgary

Kristi Peters is a Food Systems Planner with The City of Calgary’s Climate & Environment team, where she provides strategic leadership over Calgary’s food system portfolio. Her work includes driving the implementation of the CalgaryEats! Food Action Plan and spearheading the development of Calgary’s Food Resilience Strategy, the first of its kind in Canada.

Kristi’s approach to food systems goes beyond addressing local challenges – it connects to the broader issues of climate change, environmental justice, urbanization and community resilience. She sees food as a critical lever for creating sustainable cities and fostering long-term community resilience.

Before joining The City of Calgary she spent many years working at the intersection of culinary and sustainability. She holds a Master’s degree in Environment and Management, and naturally, she loves to garden, cook and eat.
