Our unique backgrounds and experiences shape our perceptions, conversations, and work. While they make us who we are, they also come with inherent assumptions and biases. In our fast-paced world, we often fall back on these biases, using language and accepting worldviews as ‘fact’ without questioning their impact – both positive and negative.
What biases, assumptions, and ways of thinking influence your work on a daily basis? Do these factors help or hinder progress towards a sustainable future?
Guided by Indigenous thought leaders, at this session you will take an intentional step back to reflect upon these questions. You will walk away with actionable strategies to understand your positionality* and adjust your work accordingly to drive truly meaningful, impactful, and inclusive action towards a prosperous, just, and decolonial future for all.
*Positionality refers to a person’s various social identities, such as gender, race, class, ethnicity, ability, and geographical location. The combination of these identities and their intersections shape how we understand and engage with the world.
The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) invites Indigenous leaders and changemakers to an exclusive engagement session on its inaugural Strategic Plan for 2025-2028. This session will gather valuable feedback and insights from Indigenous thought leaders and decision makers to ensure the plan reflects a commitment to inclusivity and collaboration and addresses Canada’s unique sustainability disclosure challenges.
Join us for this important dialogue, where you will play a crucial role in shaping the CSSB strategic plan and the overall Canadian reporting landscape.
This event is by invitation only. If you are interested in attending, please contact carolyn.hotchkiss@globeseries.com
Home to a wealth of critical mineral reserves, Canada is uniquely positioned to drive the global shift toward responsibly sourced minerals. Opportunities exist to leverage our nation’s strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards and clean electricity grid to be a global leader in supplying this critical input to a clean energy economy. Realizing this opportunity requires an integrated value chain approach—from extraction to recycling—with potential to drive significant technological innovation, job creation, and economic growth.
Join this session to explore the challenges that hinder progress and discover actionable solutions to solidify Canada’s role as a global leader in the critical minerals economy.
As environmental challenges intensify, scaling investments in nature is crucial to address climate change, halt nature loss, and restore biodiversity. The Convention on Biological Diversity and the recent COP16 conference have resulted in international momentum around preserving the biodiversity practices of Indigenous and local communities.
Join this GLOBE Unplugged session to explore how the private sector can act in partnership with Indigenous and local communities to accelerate funding towards nature restoration and catalyze innovative financial tools to scale nature-based investments.
FNMPC’s National Indigenous Electrification Strategy (NIES) focuses on accelerating Indigenous ownership of net zero infrastructure within Canada. The NIES will position Indigenous nations as leaders in decarbonizing and doubling Canada’s electricity generation, transmission, and distribution systems. Along with other key stakeholders, the private sector plays a pivotal role, and its partnership is essential for success.
This collaborative workshop, designed for private sector professionals, will explore solutions and pathways for progress towards electrification objectives, centered in building meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities.
