Blockchain and its Emerging Role in the Clean Economy
What exactly is blockchain and how can it help to reduce environmental impact? This interactive dialogue will begin by clearly illustrating this distributed ledger technology.
Steven is the Founder and CEO of ESG Ledger, a Blockchain start-up building a secure platform to collect, verify and publish enhanced corporate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosures. They are currently inviting ESG actors to join an industry Blockchain Consortium to build consensus and co-design the future of transparency and accountability.
Previously Steven was the CEO and Co-Founder of Consensas, a distributed ledger start-up building solutions for complex value chains, and Executive Director of Canadian Business for Social Responsibility (CBSR), one of Canada’s longest running business networks dedicated to social and environmental performance.
Steven represented Canada at the French Economic Social and Environmental Council prior to the signing of the COP21 Paris Accord on Canada’s role in meeting global sustainability targets and again in Morocco as part of a COP22 consultation on the potential for the Circular Economy. He served on a CSR expert advisory group to Industry Canada and has provided guidance to Global Affairs Canada and Employment & Social Development Canada.
He currently serves on the Advisory Committee for the St. Michael’s College Sustainability & CSR Program at the University of Toronto, as a Leadership Faculty member for the Conference Board of Canada’s Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Institute, and as a Steering Committee Member for the Industry Partnerships Program at the Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College in the newly built net zero Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation.
