SFU B2B Lounge
Need a little privacy? Expo attendees participating in the B2B Networking Program could visit the SFU B2B Lounge and book a private room for meetings of up to 4 people. Rooms were available on a first-come-first-served basis during the Expo.
Pitch to Investors, Dragon’s Den-Style
Attention companies with commercialized technology products and solutions: New for 2018, we were hosting a Dragon’s Den-style event that allowed you to pitch your cleantech business, solution or service to a hand-picked group of interested investors.
Organizations selected to take part in this activity were allocated five minutes to pitch their solution to the investor panel, followed by a 10-minute, one-to-one engagement to receive feedback and ask questions.
This activity was open to all exhibitors and registered companies.
Rapid-fire Pitch Session and Speed Dating
Three-minute rapid-fire pitches took place on March 14 at 2:45pm and March 15 at 11:15am in the Presentation Theatre. You had the chance to deliver a three-minute pitch to outline your ideas or solutions to investors who are interested in all stages of funding.
The top 10 organisations picked by investors participated in a Speed Dating session on March 16. Sessions were 10 minutes each.
This activity was open to all exhibitors, conference delegates and exhibition visitors.
Trade Commissioner Service Export Café & Lounge
The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service invited you to not only conduct informal and formal meetings in the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) Export Café & Lounge, but to leverage their matchmaking service and expertise in doing business with customers from around the world. The TCS Export Café & Lounge was available during Innovation Expo opening hours.

The Big Deal Room was available during expo opening hours and offers privacy and calm.

Investors Networking Reception
We hosted an exclusive Investors-Only networking reception on the evening of March 14th from 5.30pm on. A global Cleantech investment community discussed the technologies, companies and ideas changing the face of sustainability.
Canadian Financing Forum & Mission Innovation Clean Energy Financing Event
The Canadian Financing Forum (CFF) and GLOBE Series teamed up with Mission Innovation (MI) to host the first MI Clean Energy Financing Event. Global investors were invited to participate in the pitch sessions (March 13th) and experience a world-class technology company showcase and networking event. Discussions and networking sessions took place on the Expo floor on March 14th.
BC Cleantech Investor Roundtable
Organized by the Vancouver Economic Commission, this afternoon event (March 14th) brought together 8-10 vetted and primed cleantech companies from British Columbia with global investors in a “World Café” format.
Get involved in Cascadia Connect Cleantech Challenge-Pitch Sessions
The Cascadia Connect Cleantech Challenge Pitch sessions, a special event designed to connect major buyers from the Pacific Northwest region with Canadian and global solution providers.
The Cascadia Connect event took place on Thursday, March 15th from 10am-12:30pm in the GLOBE 2018 Innovation Expo Theatre and brought together major public sector institutions, corporate buyers, and utilities who were pitching their challenges and looking for specific solutions related to transportation, smart grid, and high-performance buildings. Confirmed organizations pitching their cleantech needs included: the City of Vancouver, the University of British Columbia, Translink, Snohomish County PUD, Sound Transit, and Avista Energy.
The Cascadia Cleantech Connect platform was a unique opportunity to connect with major corporations and buyers that are facing genuine real-world problems in meeting their ambitious greenhouse gas and climate targets. The event was sponsored by the City of Vancouver, with support from the Vancouver Economic Commission, Global Affairs Canada, SmartGrid Northwest, and GLOBE 2018. In addition, Global Affairs Canada was supporting 1-on-1 business-to-business (B2B) meetings immediately following the session.
Mining for solutions
A discussion and networking session exploring the challenges around reducing energy consumption, recovering waste energy, decreasing environmental footprints of operations, reducing tailings volumes, conserving and treating water, and measuring water quality in real time, using advanced sensors, digitalization, and automation to improve operation efficiencies.

The Disruptor Theatre
The Disruptor Theatre hosted our exclusive Tech Talks and Spark Talks. These sessions brought together global leaders and entrepreneurs driving forward new sustainable technology and ideas.
Each talk engaged a different Innovation Technology Cluster: Smart Grid & Micro-Grid, Smart & High Performing Buildings, Sustainable Transportation & Mobility, Water Innovation, Carbon Capture and Utilization & Storage.
Each talk lasted 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes Q&A by our engaging and charismatic speakers.
Spark Talks
Stay informed on inspirational and disruptive cleantech initiatives. These talks exposed new ideas that were supported by concrete evidence and were relevant to a broad, international cleantech audience.
Tech Talks
These talks presented functional products, services, processes and inventions making an every-day difference in the world of cleantech.

The Trade Commissioner Service Theatre
The TCS Theatre hosted the launch of the Cleantech Global export education workshop, market intelligence sessions on cleantech opportunities abroad from our 20+ incoming Trade Commissioners from around the world, as information session on how Canadian industry can better leverage the growing business opportunities stemming from climate finance.
