Challenge-Pitch Program

Challenge-Pitch Program

Matching Today’s Industry Challenges with Real Solutions.

How does the process work?

GLOBE is working with a number of private and public sector partners to identify environmental challenges that can be solved through innovation and cleantech.

These challenges will be entered in GLOBE’s B2B networking software, GLOBE MaX. Potential solution providers can view them and decide whether or not they would like to pitch a product or service – either independently or with partners.

The pitching process can happen before, during or after the expo; GLOBE MaX will be open from November 2015 until summer 2016.

What’s up for grabs?

In some cases, funding is already available for solution providers to take next steps to advance their technology. In others, it’s all about the opportunity to promote your solution, forge partnerships, and/or to get important feedback from potential buyers.

Industry challenges include:

  • Evok Innovations Cleantech Pitch Session  Do you have the next great clean technology idea? Here’s your chance to access leading entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts. If you’re working on an early-stage cleantech technology that could be used in the oil and gas industry – we’d like to hear from you. The CleanTech Pitch Session at GLOBE 2016 on March 3, 2016 offers finalists the opportunity to pitch their solution to expert judges and get some great exposure for their business. This session is hosted by Evok Innovations and supported by Cenovus and Suncor.

  • Foresight-ARCTIC Showcase: Fast-Tracking Cleantech Innovation in the Resource Sector  Learn about Foresight's ARCTIC program, which brings together industry partners and cleantech innovators to find and fund solutions for resource sector challenges in Western Canada. A stellar group of speakers from the public and private sectors will provide an overview of the Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA) ARCTIC Challenge experience. Find out how you can tap into innovative cleantech solutions for your most pressing issues in the resource sector.

  • Renewable Energy Challenge The Vancouver Economic Commission and C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group are hosting a half-day Renewable Energy Challenge Workshop on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Participants are invited to work to solve 5+ concrete challenges faced by cities and businesses in their efforts to be 100 percent renewable energy-powered. C40 cities (Vancouver, New York, and Copenhagen), as well as large companies  from Vancouver, will showcase their renewable energy goals and accomplishments, and then outline key challenge(s) for which they are seeking  solutions. The key focus will include transportation fuels, EV infrastructure, net-zero buildings, and district energy. The intention is that challenges presented are concrete and will lead to real action and transactions, with city-focused solutions going on to materialize on C40’s new City Solutions Platform.
  • GLOBE-COSIA Innovation Challenge This is a unique opportunity to explore new markets for your technologies. An initiative of GLOBE 2016 and Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA), the Innovation Challenge is seeking to match solution providers with specific industry challenges. We are looking for technologies to improve water treatment and reuse, reduce GHG emissions, and improve energy efficiency in oil sands mining and thermal facilities. GLOBE and COSIA will be holding a two-hour workshop on Thursday, March 3rd from 8:30-10:30am PT at the GLOBE conference in Vancouver. The challenges will be presented in more detail at the workshop, and interested cleantech providers will have the opportunity for one-on-one meetings with COSIA representatives. If you are unable to attend the workshop in person, you also have an option to participate via webcast. Workshop space and the one-to-one meetings for participants are limited, so be sure to secure your space as soon as possible. Please RSVP to Ingrid Hoffmann ([] You can learn more about the COSIA challenges at: The goal of the Challenge-Pitch Program is to match innovative cleantech solutions with some of the stickiest environmental challenges facing the public and private sectors.
