Mr. Benoit has over 35 years of experience in the environmental business in Canada and internationally. He has extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry; particularly in site assessment/due diligence, contaminated site remediation, environmental management systems, waste management, and environmental impact assessments. He has authored over 40 technical papers on various environmental subjects.
Mr. Benoit holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science from the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. He is also an Environmental Practitioner (EP).
Mr. Benoit worked for Mobil Oil for 14 years as an environmental engineer, and has considerable experience in the management of environmental issues related to both the onshore and offshore Oil and Gas industry.
He was also the General Manager of TriWaste Reduction Services, a company involved in the clean-up of contaminated sites and recycling of hazardous wastes.
In 1996, Mr. Benoit joined AMEC as General Manager of AMEC Japan, where he lived for over 8 years. In this position, he was responsible for the marketing and business development of AMEC’s engineering services in the region. He was also the Project Manager for the feasibility study for the design and construction of a 6,000 kilometre pipeline from Siberia to Japan.
Mr. Benoit returned to Canada in 2004, where he assumed the position of Regional Director for AMEC Earth & Environmental in Montreal, Québec for 3 years. In 2007, Mr. Benoit joined SNC-Lavalin as Vice-President of SNC-Lavalin Environment, Quebec and Maritimes.
He was promoted to Senior Vice-President & General Manager, SNC-Lavalin Environment in July 2009 and is also a member of SNC-Lavalin Inc.’s Management Committee. He is responsible for the Division’s operations across Canada and internationally.
In October 2010, Mr. Benoit was elected to a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of ECO Canada. As a member of the Board, he is responsible for providing strategic and operational advice to ECO Canada in the development of national environmental labour market solutions.
As of early 2013, Mr. Benoit is now responsible for overseeing the Environment and Water lines of business, nationally and globally, for SNC Lavalin Inc.
