In 1995 Stan Struthers was first elected as the MLA for Dauphin. He was re-elected in 1999 and again in the 2003, 2007 and 2011 general elections.
From 1999 to 2003, Stan was the Legislative Assistant to the Minister of Health. On November 4, 2003, Stan was sworn in as the Minister of Conservation. On November 3, 2009 he was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, on October 19, 2011, he was appointed Minister of Finance and most recently on October 18, 2013, he was appointed Minister of Municipal Government and as Minister responsible for Manitoba Hydro.
Stan holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from Brandon University and a Masters of Education from the University of Manitoba. His teaching career included positions at the Norway House Cree Nation, Swan Valley, Winnipegosis High School and Principal at Rorketon Collegiate.
Stan was born in Swan River, raised and educated in several rural towns in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He resides in Dauphin with his wife Michelle and his son Alex.
