Françoise Faverjon-Fortin

Vice President of Infrastructure and Environment, Export Development Canada

Françoise Faverjon-Fortin was appointed Vice-President, Infrastructure and Environment in  2006. Mrs. Faverjon-Fortin joined EDC's insurance group in 1990 and assumed positions of increasing responsibility in underwriting, business development and management both regionally and at head office. Before assuming her current role, she was EDC's Quebec and Eastern Ontario Vice-President. Prior to joining EDC, she worked for the Conference Board of Canada and for the World Trade Institute of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In addition to her work at EDC, Mrs. Faverjon-Fortin is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of The Montreal Council on Foreign Relations (CORIM) and of the Canadian Medic Alert Foundation.

In 2008, she distinguished herself in the area of finance and business and won the Leadership Award from the Association of Quebec Women in Finance. She has also been recognized as one of Canada's top "Women in the Lead"for board appointment in each of the last six years that the directory has been published. Mrs. Faverjon-Fortin was one of the first five women in Quebec to graduate from the Canadian Directors Education Program of the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2005. She was also received as fellow of the International Women Forum in 2006.

Overall, Mrs. Faverjon-Fortin has worked in the field of international trade and investment for more than twenty-five years. She has developed financing, insurance and risk management expertise in the Engineering & Construction, Cleantech, Energy & Mining, Consumer Goods, Transportation, and Financial Industry sectors. Mrs. Faverjon-Fortin graduated with honors from the State University of New York and holds an MBA in International Finance.

Mrs. Faverjon-Fortin is also a recognized speaker on international business, trade finance & insurance, mentoring, leadership and women in governance. For many years, she taught Export Financing to MBA students of l'École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC). Mrs. Faverjon-Fortin was also a regular commentator on TVA's Canal Argent TV showStratégie PME.
