Vern relocated to British Columbia in July 2019 to join Abbotsford’s economic development team. Prior to his arrival in the Fraser Valley he spent six years in the economic development field in Manitoba, where he was heavily immersed in a variety of projects from foreign direct investment, major capital projects and tourism development.

Most notably, he has been credited with confirming in excess of $500 Million in new investment for the City of Portage la Prairie (a community of 13,000) within a two year time frame, primarily in the agri-food sector.
