Matthew Toohey leads sustainability and ESG integration, strategy and reporting at TransAlta Corporation & TransAlta Renewables in the role of Global Lead, Sustainability. TransAlta is a global power generation company with operations across North America and Australia. Previous experience in the energy sector includes, nine years in oil and gas at ARC Resources, within investor relations and corporate communications and three years consulting on low-carbon energy solutions with Solas Energy and RESET Consulting.
Matt holds an MSc. in Renewable Energy and Enterprise Management from Newcastle University in the UK and BA in Communications from the University of Calgary. He sits on the Board Of Directors for Connecting Environmental Professionals (CEP) in the role of Board Chair. Through his work with CEP he was actively involved in the development of the GLOBE Leading Change forum. He was highlighted by Avenue Magazine as one of Calgary’s Top 40 under 40 in 2018. He is also the proud dad of two young children who deprive him of sleep most nights.
