Mr. Elser leads the Project Finance and M&A department within DNV GL’s Renewables Advisory business, comprised of over fifty project managers and engineers focused on delivering independent engineering services to support transactions involving wind, solar, and storage projects.

The department’s mandate includes delivering a broad range of technical advisory services to customers including project developers, tax equity and equity investors, lenders, utility and corporate offtakers of renewable energy, and other stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of facilitating technically sound investments in renewable energy projects and companies. Mr. Elser has personally led the technical due diligence on dozens of gigawatts of renewable energy projects in North America during his nine-year tenure at DNV GL, as well as previously serving as a project manager for a major turbine manufacturer overseeing the installation and commissioning of nearly 600 MW of wind projects in the U.S. His current team is responsible for the due diligence on a very large percentage of the renewable energy projects constructed in the U.S. and Canada.

Mr. Elser earned a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University and MS in Energy Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan, and served for eight years as an officer in the United States Navy prior to entering the renewable energy industry.
