Jyrki Nissilä

Minister-Counsellor, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Finland

In August 2018 Mr. Nissilä was nominated as the Deputy Head of Mission to the Embassy of Finland in Ottawa. Prior to this he worked for four years (2014-2018) as a Director of the Unit for Civil Society at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki.

Mr. Nissilä started his diplomatic career in 1996. He has been posted at the Embassies of Finland in Indonesia (1997-2000) and Germany (2000-2004) as well as at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the United Nations in New York (2009-2012). He enjoys meeting people and learning about new countries and cultures while serving his own country.

Mr. Nissilä is married and has two children. He has graduated from the University of Turku (M.A. in Political Science, 1994 and Teacher, 1995).
