is a journalist covering the global energy transition and the author of six books, including the recent national bestseller The Patch: The People, Pipelines, and Politics of the Oil Sands, which won the 2018 National Business Book Award. He is an award-winning essayist and a climate and energy communications strategist. He lives in Calgary and regularly reports for The Walrus, the Globe & Mail, and Canadian Geographic.
