Progress Over Perfection: Navigating Sustainability Realities

Now more than ever we cannot let the fear of failure or the pursuit of perfect prevent us from taking action. It’s time we shift the narrative and embrace a collective commitment to progress over perfection. Join this session and examine the pitfalls of waiting for the ‘perfect’ sustainability plan while we explore the incremental steps needed to nurture a culture of continuous improvement.

Justice at the Crossroads: The Role of Intersectional Environmentalism

Intersectional environmentalism (IE) aims to protect both people and the planet, while recognizing how environmental issues affect different groups in different ways, and inherently impacts marginalized and oppressed groups more. This session is for everyone who wants to learn more about IE, how to navigate the crossroads between environmental and social justice, and how to apply it to your work to create a more inclusive and regenerative future for all.

Authentically Green: Strategies for Proactive Sustainability Action

Allegations of ‘greenwashing’ serve as powerful mechanisms to hold organizations accountable, ensuring genuine action to advance sustainable practices and commitments. However, it can also lead to organizations intentionally opting to keep their sustainability initiatives hidden from the public eye out of fear of greenwashing scrutiny. This interactive discussion will explore the balance between holding slow movers accountable while refraining from undue punishment of early sustainability adopters.

Advance: Restoring and Protecting Nature

A healthy and diverse natural ecosystem is required to support a regenerative future. Rapid biodiversity loss and the degradation of ecosystems are major drivers of climate change, which in turn further exacerbates these issues and ultimately threatens the sustainability of human society. In this interactive and outcomes-focused workshop, you’ll share the key learnings and actions needed for restoring and protecting nature.

Closing Plenary Moving Forward: Reaching Beyond Sustainability to Regeneration

At the GLOBE Forum 2024 Closing Plenary, we’ll look ahead to the next steps needed to create a regenerative future. From key outcomes and insights, to how we’ll show up ready for action at GLOBExCHANGE in 2025, participants will come together one last time to celebrate our community’s commitment to reaching beyond sustainability to regeneration.

Our Closing Plenary will kick off with a special cultural performance from the Musqueum Warriors, followed by opening remarks from BC Regional Chief Terry Teegee. Chief Teegee will provide his perspectives on how we can work together across governments, business, finance, and civil society to drive action for a more sustainable future.

From Conflict to Collaboration: Working Across Difference to Advance Sustainability

Sustainability often involves competing priorities and diverse perspectives. This session explores how we can be guided by nature and work across differences to create a regenerative future together. Join this armchair dialogue to learn how to navigate uncomfortable ‘‘tough conversations,” how critical diversity in thought is to advancing sustainability goals, and how we can feel empowered to champion these conversations in this space and beyond.

Welcome and Opening Plenary

Join us for the official opening of GLOBE Forum 2024! We’ll start the event with a host welcome and Land Acknowledgement as well as opening remarks from Indigenous leadership of the local nations on whose traditional territory we have the privilege of gathering.
