Centering Indigenous Rights, Equity Partnerships and Indigenous Ways of Knowing for a Regenerative Future

For millennia, Indigenous Peoples have held a deeply intimate relationship with the natural world. Through this longstanding bond, they have amassed a wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and experience that are invaluable to creating a cooperative coexistence. Partnering with, and affirming the rights of, Indigenous Peoples are critical as we work to restore and protect the world around us. Join us for a thought-provoking conversation with Indigenous leaders as they explore the crucial role of Indigenous Rights, Equity Partnerships, and Indigenous Ways of Knowing in driving understanding and action for a more regenerative future.

From the Micro to the Macro: Unpacking Plastic’s Place in a Regenerative Future

The durability, cost and efficiency of plastics have caused their use to proliferate across sectors and value chains of our global economy. However, the use of fossil-fuels for their production, their often “single-use” nature, and the way we typically dispose of plastics present significant challenges to accelerating a clean economy. Join this session to discuss the complexity of our relationship with plastics, the actions industry and consumers must take to reduce their negative impact on our planet, and how plastics fit in a sustainable, zero-waste future.

Transforming Transportation: Decarbonizing the Supply Chain

Transportation services represent a large share of many organizations’ total emissions and must be tackled to reach net zero. While rail and marine are efficient modes of transportation and have made strides to decarbonize, there is still much work to be done – and the journey cannot be made alone. At this interactive session, stakeholders from across the transportation supply chain will explore how we can collaborate to further optimize the efficiency of existing technologies and accelerate the development of new solutions that will transport us to a more sustainable future.

The CSO Roundtable: Redefining the Role of Sustainability Executives (Invite-Only)

As one of the newest additions to the boardroom, Chief Sustainability Officers (CSOs) are just getting settled into their seats. However, tasked with tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges in an ever-evolving ESG landscape, these executives have had to hit the ground running and “build the plane as it is flying”. At this interactive roundtable, CSOs and sustainability executives will dive into the question of how they can play a key role in maximizing positive impact across their company and the world beyond.

The Critical Role of Critical Infrastructure: Enabling a Water Secure, Net-Zero Future

Critical infrastructure is designed to meet our essential service needs. Today, that not only means ensuring our utilities, power grids and transportation systems are reliable – they must also be sustainable. In this armchair dialogue we’ll unpack the role of infrastructure in enhancing water security and reducing emissions, as we transition to a more resilient, net-zero energy future.

Healthy Energy Homes: Going Beyond Sustainability

In this interactive discussion, amplifying Indigenous Clean Energy and the Canadian Climate Institute’s Health Energy Homes project, expert panelists will explore the connections between housing, health outcomes, clean energy, and energy efficiency. They will explore innovative solutions to address a concern Indigenous Peoples have been raising for decades—poor quality homes are causing severe health impacts in Indigenous communities across Canada. The session will delve into how energy efficiency solutions go “beyond sustainability” to not only mitigate greenhouse gas emissions but also address poor health outcomes, build climate resilience, and create economic benefits.

The Role of the Gas System in a Low-Carbon Future

Energy providers, Indigenous communities, all levels of government, industry and other stakeholders are working to lower emissions and support a prosperous transition to a lower-carbon economy. In this session, we’ll discuss the innovative solutions and approaches that will allow us to leverage our natural gas infrastructure to enable this transition. Join us to uncover how we can collaborate to build on the strengths of the gas and electricity systems and provide safe, reliable and affordable low-carbon energy for British Columbians.
