Vancouver Convention Centre West
1055 Canada Place, Vancouver, BC, Canada V6C 0C3
The award-winning Vancouver Convention Centre has been built to the highest environmental standard.
GLOBE attendees will be pleased to learn that the venue’s iconic West Building has been awarded LEED Platinum certification (version 4) for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance, by the Canada Green Building Council. The recent award means the Vancouver Convention Centre is the first double LEED Platinum convention centre in the world.
As well as offering a remarkable example in environmental excellence, the venue boasts one of the most beautiful settings in the world. Located on Vancouver’s downtown waterfront, attendees can take pleasure in watching the city’s famous float planes take off and land against a stunning mountain backdrop. Situated in the heart of downtown Vancouver, the venue is surrounded by an array of hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and shopping.
We would like to acknowledge that GLOBE 2020 will take place on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
From Vancouver International Airport (YVR), attendees can take a taxi or the Canada Line rapid transit system in less than 30 minutes (the latter drops you right by the Convention Centre for under $10). Downtown Vancouver is one of the world’s most walkable cities, and the venue is easily accessible by foot. There are also various convenient and green ways to travel around the city, including the Translink’s SkyTrain, buses, and SeaBus, as well as the expansive bike route network (accessible with short-term rentals available via Mobi).
