Tannis Axten owns and operates a 10,000-acre grain farm in Southern Saskatchewan with her husband Derek. She is dedicated to restoring life to their soil, farm and community. By embracing practices such as, low soil disturbance, intercropping, cover cropping, seeding pollinator boundaries, and livestock integration, there has
been an improvement in soil health on their farm. By nourishing the soil, they have drastically reduced synthetic inputs, improved water efficiency and boosted organic matter content.
Tannis and her family have built a food-grade seed cleaning plant, flour mill and packaging line on their farm to add value to their grains. Their farm’s goal is to directly access markets and work with food companies that see value in their farming practices. When customers purchase Axten Farms grains or flour, they are investing in their health and the health of the ecosystem
