Canada’s first National Standard for food loss and waste (FLW) measurement—now in public review and set to launch in 2026—marks a major step toward tackling the FLW puzzle by providing clear definitions and a unified measurement and characterization framework. But to make real progress, we need to understand who holds which piece of the puzzle, and how a national standard can support coordinated action across the agriculture and food systems.

This interactive roundtable is your chance to help shape national efforts to reduce FLW. Participants will help define who leads/should lead and take action across the food value chain and how standards and other tools can support practical, measurable change in the Canadian FLW space. Your input will help shape a roadmap and guide practical implementation that reflects shared goals—reducing waste, cutting emissions, and unlocking value through collaboration. Join us in laying the groundwork for a coordinated national effort that transforms ambition into measurable impact!

Workshops are open to all attendees—typically engaging 20 to 60 participants—in interactive formats that foster collaborative problem-solving around key challenges and opportunities. Designed to apply learnings and collect insights in real time, participants are equipped to contribute meaningfully to foster long-term outcomes and impact that extends well beyond the event.
