Female entrepreneurs and innovators have long been under-represented in the cleantech industry, with only 5% of Canadian cleantech companies having a sole founder or CEO. The gap is even starker with regards to cleantech investment dollars, with women receiving only 2% of funding.

Despite this, investors are beginning to wake up to this untapped potential. Female participation is increasing in STEM subjects, and the alternative perspectives brought to the table by female founders mean that women in cleantech have a bright future.
