Position Summary:

GLOBE Series (globeseries.com) and The Delphi Group (Delphi.ca) are seeking a Manager of Finance to oversee day-to-day activities for all Constellation companies – The Delphi Group, Accelerating Sustainability Events Management Inc., doing business as GLOBE Series, 1443438 Ontario Inc. and Leading Change Canada.  The Manager of Finance will have extensive accounting knowledge/experience, effective communication skills and a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  S/he also be able to multi-task, have strong problem-solving capabilities and a great attention to detail.  This is a full-time, permanent job reporting to the Controller and based in Ottawa, Canada.

Position Description:

The Manager of Finance will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting for all Constellation companies.  S/he will be engaged in the day-to-day activities on all companies and will report to the Controller.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable / Receivable
    • Invoicing – creating new invoices, tracking to contracts/POs
    • Follow-up on overdue invoices
    • Review A/P (Subs / IT / utility / insurance / vendors) for quality assurance and allocations to projects
    • Review semi-monthly payment runs to vendors
  • Cashflow Management
    • Prepare semi-monthly/monthly cash flow updates
    • Research on grants for offsetting corporate expenses (e.g., market expansion, SRED)
    • Maintain credit facilities / investments
    • Monitor foreign currency and exchange as appropriate
    • Set-up and maintain merchant accounts
  • Budgeting
    • Coordinate collection of annual / project budget information
    • Provide periodic updates on actuals to budget
    • Analyze financial reports for areas of financial savings
  • Financial Statement Preparation and Reporting
    • Ledger reconciliations
    • Review bank reconciliations
    • Manage intercompany allocations and reconciliations
    • Prepare draft monthly financial reporting package for Controller review
    • Prepare quarterly management summaries of sales/revenue activity
    • Prepare reporting for multiple projects – revenues, expenses and profitability
    • Submission of mandatory government reporting – T4s, payroll source deductions, EHT, GST/HST, Statistics Canada surveys
    • Liaison with auditors for annual review engagements
  • Management of Accounting Staff
    • Regular review of work planning
    • Conduct annual performance reviews
    • Provide guidance on training and development plans
    • Maintain segregation of duties per GAAP

 

Experience:

  • A degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience. A Chartered Professional Accountant designation (or working towards designation) is preferred;
  • Considerable financial accounting experience;
  • Experience within a consulting environment is an asset;
  • Experience with Sage 50 Canadian accounting system;
  • Considerable experience in budgeting, financial planning and administration;
  • Supervisory experience is preferred;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as excellent analytical, organization and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent computer skills using Excel and other O365 platforms
  • Knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation, provincial statutes
  • Bilingual (English/French) would be a valuable asset
