If you see a bit of a green glow about town this coming week, it’s no accident.
As the sun sets on March 2, the managers of a half-dozen of Vancouver’s signature buildings and landmarks will throw the switch and welcome, with green lighting, the more than 50 nations coming to town for the GLOBE 2016 Leadership Summit and Innovation Expo.
B.C. Place, the Sails of Light at Canada Place, Science World, Telus Garden, the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre, and the Olympic Cauldron arms will all “light up green.”
The city-wide gesture is meant to symbolically put out the welcome mat for the 240+ business, government and nonprofit leaders and hundreds of clean-tech exhibitors who are coming to Vancouver.
The GLOBE Leadership Summit, held in Vancouver every two years, is North America’s largest and most influential sustainable business leadership summit. It’s a high-level forum for inspiration and collaboration between executives, government officials, and civil society leaders on how to leverage markets and innovation to turn environmental challenges into business opportunities.
Meanwhile, the GLOBE 2016 Innovation Expo is a humming showcase of green innovation. For a modest entry fee, visitors can check out emerging and established companies that are addressing climate change and food and water security with cutting-edge solutions such as clean energy, electric vehicles, and much more.
It all goes down March 2-4 at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre.
